TCP#26: FernGully, The Last Rainforest

Welcome to the February 16th edition of Tuesday Couch Potatoes, where we post about a movie each week. My sincere apologies to my beloved Couchers for my tardiness in posting. Things have been hectic today and I failed to make a scheduled post. Am really very sorry.

Anyway, before I present our theme for this week, allow me to feature one of the movies our Couchers featured for last week's theme: For the LOVE of Children/Kids. Mommy Liz of Celebrities, Movies, Fashion and Etc. featured Losing Isaiah, a drama film starring Halle Berry and Jessica Lange.

This week's theme is: For the Love of Nature. If you have a movie to share that centers about environmental imbalance, environmental protection, nuclear core meltdowns and plutonium and other radioactive material contaminations, then come share it with us this week.

I have been wracking my brains out on what to feature this week. I wanted to feature a movie that is about environmental protection with the main character being transformed and had a change of heart because of an experience that he had. Then I remembered Fern Gully: The Last Rainforest. It is an Australian animated film which came out in 1992 with a heavy environmental theme. This movie is quite an old one... I was still in grade school then but I really loved watching it. Illegal logging was a very big issue then so that movies such as this one was very fitting. While it is a fairy tale, adults will appreciate this because of its theme.

The story is about FernGully, the last rainforest inhabited by fairies and of Zak, a logger who was accidentally turned into a miniscule size of himself by one of the fairies named Chrysta. In FernGully, humans are believed to be non-existent. Until Batty, a bat who claims that he has seen humans, came. Things changed for Zak when he learns more about the fairy world. Meanwhile, the rest of the loggers were cutting down trees and released an ancient evil and polluting force called Hexxus. Zak vowed to save the fairy world and in so doing, confronted the loggers and Hexxus.

Here's the trailer if you still haven't seen this one:

And please don't forget to add your TCP entry's link to the MckLinky below:

That's it for our TCP this week. Next week's theme: For The LOVE of Family. Take care everyone! And Happy TCP!

Oh, before I forget, have you joined my Giveaway yet? If you still haven't, then don't forget to enter this week. Remember, you need 2 TCP entries for February to be qualified. This is your last chance to winning an original DVD of your choice! Will be posting an update of qualified Couchers later today. Good luck to all!
