TCP#11: Meet Joe Black

Hello everyone! Welcome to the October 20th edition of Tuesday Couch Potatoes, where we post about a movie each week. This week's theme is Supernaturals. If you have seen a movie that is all about an existence beyond the scientifically visible universe, miracles, angels and demons, ghosts, magic, or even the paranormal, then come share it with us this week.

But wait, before I go on, I would like to add a new feature to my entry. Starting today and in the succeeding TCP entries, I will feature one entry from the previous theme. My little way of saying THANKS to all of you who have joined in the fun.

Last week, we had Urban Legends and one of our participants featured The Amityville Horror. If you still haven't seen this one, got check out Darly of I Love Darly's entry.

And now for my Supernaturals pick: Meet Joe Black. I first saw this movie in college for our Philosophy class. We had death for our topic and this movie best describes man's fear of death and the unknown, and how man is able to embrace and welcome it.

Brad Pitt plays Joe Black, who is Death in the flesh. Anthony Hopkins is the wealthy business tycoon Bill Parrish, who traded for a delay in his impending demise by giving Joe a tour of life. I love the witty dialogue. I love how Brad Pitt played his role here: funny and very innocent (considering his role). And I love Claire Forlani who plays the role of the unsuspecting daughter, Susan Parrish. I loved the turn of events and how the ending turned out to be. Bill is indeed a very lucky man to have been given the chance to prepare for his death. Now, I wouldn't tell you how the ending went. You wouldn't want me to spoil it for you, or do you?

Here's a preview so you would know why I loved this one:

And here's something for you to think about:
No one can die - while he loves.

Thanks for joining us this Tuesday! Don't forget to leave the link to your TCP post in the MckLinky below so others can visit and comment too!

Next week, our theme is "Just Magical!" and we will feature magical movies, films that enchanted your hearts and left you feeling glad to have seen happy endings. Till then, Couchers! Hugs!
