Eurovision and Satellite

Eurovision and Satellite. Quite peculiar for a title right? But if you are living in these parts of the planet, you would understand what I am talking about. Eurovision is the name of an annual song competition here in Europe. The Contest, which has been broadcast every year since its debut in 1956, is one of the longest-running television programs in the world. Satellite on the other hand is the title of the song that won in this year's contest. It was sung by Lena Meyer-Landrut of Germany.

The Eurovision Song Contest produced and launched a number of successful and unforgettable faces in the music industry, most notable of whom are ABBA and Celine Dion. ABBA won the contest for Sweden in 1974 and Celine Dion won for Switzerland in 1988.

And oh, here's a music video of Lena singing Satellite, video taken from Eurovision channel on Youtube:

I really enjoy this song because of the way it was sung. It is very upbeat and refreshing. At first thought that it was sung by a British or Irish singer because of the accent. Then I learned that it was sung by a German artist, Lena, who I find very cool.

So, what do you think? Do you like it too? I can't wait for the next Eurovision contest which will take place in Germany.
