My Journey To Graduate School 2

So last Saturday was my TOEFL iBT (Internet-based test). It was a very cold day. The car's blower wasn't working so that the windows got all fogged up, making it difficult to drive. The testing center was quite far too, about 30 minutes ride from our place on a fine day but took longer because of the snow. We almost got lost. Good thing we have GPS.

The testing center was almost full when I arrived. There must have been almost 50 people who took the test that day, most of them Germans who are looking to enroll in a university for a degree or for further studies. And by golly was I nervous. I made two trips to the toilet before the test started and another trip during the break.

The exam took 4 hours and 30 minutes to complete. It started at 10:00AM and ended at 2:30PM. There were four parts to the exam: Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing with a ten-minute break in between the Listening and Speaking parts. I forgot to bring water or candies with me so that I was so thirsty and hungry midway through the exam. It was also weird to have to wear your headphones for the entire duration of test so that you won't get distracted by the others who have started a little bit ahead of you. Hehe!

I finished the test a little bit ahead of time, at around 1:55 PM. I have done all the reviewing that my remaining time in between the different tests could afford. I can no longer review the previous parts once I start on the next part so that there wasn't really much left to do. It went well for me although I am not confident whether the checker will find it to be so too. I am just keeping my fingers crossed though.

I do hope that I pass the test, I mean I badly need to pass it. I am still waiting anxiously for my test scores, and the suspense is killing me. Aside from the fact that it was expensive, the test cost me $225.00, I need to have a good score if I want to be admitted to the M. Sc. WASTE Program at Stuttgart University.

I also received an email today from the University telling me that they have received my application to the Program and that I will know of the decision of the Exam Committee whether I am admitted or not by the end of April. I still have to forward to them my TOEFL results though so that I am certain that they have put my application on hold. Also, I just realized today this: in my haste to submit my application requirements, I forgot to paste my passport photo in the Application Form. Toinks!
