Gotcha, Facebook!

Facebook has, yet again, made changes to the system. It has for the nth time, something new to offer its users. Before, it was the profiles and just when you are about to get used to it, something new comes along. This time, it is the photo viewing or slideshow. Notice the black background when you view photos and the forward and back arrows on the sides? I think they made these changes most probably because many complain of photos moving forward each time they click on the photo. What is annoying though is that when you right click on the photo, you cannot find "copy image location" and instead you will find back, "back, forward, etc..." How am I supposed to link photos from my Facebook albums to my blogs then? This is a puzzle that still remains to be solved...

Now one of the reasons why I upload lots of photos on Facebook is because I can easily use the images in my blogs by just copying the image location URL. And now, Facebook is making my life more difficult! I have already maxed out on my picasa web album where the photos that I upload directly on my blogs are being stored so Facebook was the next best thing for me to upload and share photos. What to do then?

I was trying out a way and perhaps most of you already know this. If you view photos and will be directed to the Theater slideshow, the one with the black background of the image, all you need to do is right click on the photo and select reload. Then the page will reload and bring you to the old Photo View version. Now you can get the image location and copy them by right clicking on the image. Cool huh? But of course, you would have already known about that. :D

I Am Not A Dress

Some people seem to have abused the option for Tagging Photos on Facebook. Although the photo tagging is a god-sent idea, some people just want to be annoying and the next thing I know, I find in my profile that someone tagged me in one of their photos only to discover that it wasn't really a photo of me but a photo of a dress.

Don't get me wrong. I respect people's business and I am happy that they using social networking as a means to earn money on the side. But I guess it is just plain annoying if you tag me in every single new stock of RTW. So I hope you just quit it lest I remove you from my Friends list. I guess I am unfortunate because my name starts with the letter A. And you know how it is when it comes to tagging or even sending nonsensical invites: A is the easiest target. Additionally, I wouldn't fit into those dresses anyway so I won't be interested in them. So I hope the tagging will stop. I will not complain if the I am tagged because the photo is related to something that I know and believe in but please, no merchandise!

Social Networking

I think that God blessed the day the Internet was discovered and made known to man. Why? Because it has made our world feel more connected with all the comings and goings. It has afforded man the capability to inform and be informed in just one click. It has even brought long lost friends and family members back together again through the different social networking sites that have mushroomed. You just post your profile online, and you are able to search for your friends or they will find you themselves. It's like business card printing working electronically and automatically.

I have heard many stories of being able to find their relatives whom they haven't had contact with for more than 20 years and then were able to catch up on their lives through social networking. I have heard and read testimonies from my own friends who have benefited from social networking because they received moral support and were inspired by just even a simple status message.

Although social networking can also have its disadvantages because of other people abusing the information that they can access from these social networking sites, there is no denying the fact that it is generally good.
