Grey's Anatomy

Grey's Anatomy. I first learned about this medical drama series from my sister last 2007 when she came to Japan to visit us. I guess it was aired late in my home country too because the first season came out in 2005. I guess I am not that updated anymore when it comes to western shows since there aren't many English channels that the cable company is offering.

I enjoyed watching how the lives of medical interns and residents unravel with each medical emergency and procedure. You can almost say that I have a penchant for medical professionals because I had a two-month long experience with them when I had an accident as a kid. I also find the profession very noble in that they help sick people get better. They would do as much as they can to save a life.

The part I love best in the series is when they need to do surgical procedures. Although only fictional, it felt like you were also in the same operating room with them. And when they don on their blue scrubs, which is almost always, I just can't help but wish I were a doctor or a nurse too. Maybe I should look for cheap nursing scrubs so that I can also look like a medical professional. I can even play doctor - patient with my little girl, who is also fond of playing pretend and who is the best doctor there is whenever I am feeling down.

Anyway, I heard that there this drama series is already on it's 9th season, with the 9th season to be aired this 27th of September. I think I was only able to watch until season 4 so that would mean that I have been missing a lot. Will I ever be able to catch up? Only heaven knows....

My Korean Drama Craziness Continues...

I promised that I would do tons of stuff and make up for lost time in blogging now that it is April. Nine days have passed since our semestral break started and I am still lagging behind in my list except for the "watch Korean Dramas online" portion on my list.

In those nine days, I just finished watching the 24-episode "Goong" or  "The Imperial Household" or more popularly known in the Philippines as "The Princess Hours".

What I really love and find so delightful about this series? Aside from the characters, it would have to be the teddy bears! I just love them! There's this really nice Teddy Bear Museum in Jeju Island in South Korea that is worth visiting. I guess that would have to be included in my "places to go list". Just thinking about the place makes me want to go on a vacation. If I had a job, I might even get a payday loan so I can just go there. Right now.

What this series is also about? Here's the synopsis:

Chae-gyeong is an ordinary art high school student. One day, she hears totally unexpected news that, based on her grandfathers will, she must marry the unemotional Crown Prince Lee Shin who attends the same high school. Free-spirited Chae-gyeong resists the proposal, but reluctantly marries him to help her debt-ridden family. As she struggles to adapt herself to the proper manners and royal duties of palace life and to her disagreeable husband, Lee Shins sentimental cousin and second-in-line to the throne Yul steps into her life. She feels like she can rely on Yul to help her, but cant help worrying about her haughty, cold-hearted husband. To help bridge this gap, the senior members of the royal family take some special measures to get them to spend the night together. Along the way, you will encounter numerous delightful episodes among the cute and lively Chae-gyeong, the cold heartthrob Lee Shin, the handsome, down-to-earth Yul, the perfect ballerina Hyo- rin who just cant get over Lee Shin, and all the other members of the royal family. Will the Crowned Princess, Chae-gyeong be up to the challenges of royal life?

What should I watch next? Hmmm.... let's see...

Watching Grey's Anatomy

Back in 2008, when I had my baby, I absolutely had no idea who McDreamy was... Or was it McYummy? Until my sister arrived from the Philippines and came to help me in my first few months of being a first-time Mom and introduced me to the world of Meredith Grey and her fellow interns and their daily struggles in their relationships. It was sort of a refreshing break for me and my sister especially when my baby is asleep. And instead of taking my nap, I would opt to watch the series with her on the Internet.

I truly enjoyed watching the doctors and nurses in the operating room. I just know that something amazing is going to happen whenever I see these men and women donning their nursing scrubs and sewing somebody up, trying to save their lives. They had their moments of triumphs and moments of sorrow too, especially when they loose a patient on the table.

The last time I checked, Grey's Anatomy is now on it's 7th season. I guess the last season that I watched was season 4, which means that I have a lot of catching up to do. Who wants to join me on a Grey's Anatomy marathon then?

My Love Affair with the Coffee Prince

I am so hooked with Coffee Prince lately. That explains why I have been late in posting my memes. I am watching it on TV, thru our network enabled BD Player. I came to know about this series through my older sister when she visited us in Japan in 2008. I didn't get much time watching along with her though because I was on the night shift taking care of my little one and I would catch up on sleep during the day. Although this Korean series came out in 2007, it was only of late that I went gaga over it. Each time Samantha wouldn't mind me switching players, I would watch the series. Even my Hubby got intrigued and watched along too. But bitin kami. Why? Because we could not find some parts of the last episode on YouTube! Whaaa!!!

Are you familiar with this Korean Drama Series? Well it's about Go Eun-chan who is the breadwinner of her family and was mistaken by Han-Keol to be a boy. Along the way, Eun-chan developed feelings for Han-Keol although he thinks that she is a boy. She had no choice but to play along because she was afraid that Han-Keol would stop seeing her if he found out the truth. Theirs was an unusual friendship but they eventually fall in love. Kind of creepy huh? But it is a fun series to watch. And it has got a kilig ending... Well, that's what I am expecting because I haven't seen the end of it yet.

TCP#31: Prison Break

Welcome to the March 30th edition of Tuesday Couch Potatoes. I can't believe that it's going to be April soon! My apologies to my Couchers too for posting late. And this week's theme is Behind Bars. This week, we will feature movies or shows depicting any of the following situations: the lives of those behind bars or prisoners, how they ended up in prison in the first place, the sentence that they have served, the injustice and discrimination inside the prison walls, even the corruption that happens inside or the adventures and the chase that ensues when a prisoner decides to escape... I know you have seen a number of movies with this theme so I hope you can share them with us this week.

I am going to break out of my ordinary movie features and have decided to pick: Prison Break. This is a drama TV series which premiered on Fox. It was actually Hubby who told me all about it and ever since I watched it, I got hooked. It first came out in 2005 and was a hit back in 2006-2007. I think the series had four seasons. I enjoyed watching the first three seasons but found the last season dragging. Season 1 revolved around how Scofield intentionally got himself in prison in order to get his brother out and how he planned everything so he and his brother (along with six others) could escape the Fox River Penitentiary. Season 2 is about the Great Chase that ensues 8 hours after they escaped. The authorities are literally on their tails, tracking them down. Season 3 takes Scofield back in prison, this time inside Sona, a prison run by prisoners and is only guarded from the outside.

I just loved Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller). All I can say is that he is a genius! Who would have thought that his body tattoo is actually an escape plan? I also loved the characted of Sucre and of course, Lincoln Burrows and Sara Tancredi. It should be noted that while I enjoyed watching this series, I squirm at the sight of violence, coarse language and references to sex and drugs. As a parent, I of course wouldn't want my small kid to be exposed this kinds of shows.

So what's your movie for this week? Don't forget to enter your TCP entry's link URL in the MckLinky below:

THANK YOU for joining us this week on Tuesday Couch Potatoes. Our theme for April 6th is Easter/Spring Is Here. It could be any film that shows the tradition of Easter, or easter bunnies and egg hunts or it could be a Spring Movie, movies that came out during Spring season. Till next Tuesday Couchers! Take care and Happy TCP!
