TCP#44: Never Let Me Go

Hello Couchers! Welcome to the June 21st edition of Tuesday Couch Potatoes where we post about a movie each week. This week's theme is: Genetically Engineered. If you have seen or is planning to see a film that involves cloning and genetic engineering, then come share it with us this week.

My pick for this week's theme is a movie based on the novel by Kazuo Ishiguro: Never Let Me Go. It is an upcoming 2010 film, something that many of us will look forward to. Why? Because it stars Keira Knightly and Carrey Mulligan among others. As Wikipedia puts it, it is
A story of a woman who, as she reflects on her private school years in the English countryside, reunites with her two friends to face the dark secrets buried in their communal past. With no contact or knowledge of the outside world during their years at the boarding school, they discover they are clones, born and raised for the sole purpose of providing organs for transplants.
For me, it has quite an interesting plot. And I am now in a frantic search for a copy of the book so that I will know what the story really is about. Here's the official theatrical trailer that I found on YouTube.

Interesting eh? Want more Cloning & Genetically Themed Movies? Then check out other entries in the linky below:

Thank you for joining us this week Couchers! I hope to see you all again next week for some Matt Damon Movies. Till next week my dears. Take care and Happy TCP!

To Be A Child Again

Each person has a child in them. I for one, have always let the "child in me" out every now and then and just enjoy and take in everything that life offers. As a SAHM (stay-at-home mom), I often find myself amazed at the way my little girl sees things: with awe and wonder. And I would smile and my heart fills with warmth each time she sees something that pleases her and she would say, "Wow! Wie schön!" (Wow, how beautiful!) How can I ever forget that the beautiful things in life are those very simple ones? And at the end of the day, it is always my little girl who teaches me about how life should be.

Oftentimes, I let the child out in me when we visit theme parks and zoos and other places where a child can fully enjoy himself and discover and explore new things. My favorite is when we go on Disney vacations and I get to meet my favorite fairy tale princesses, beloved Disney classic characters and more. I remember when Hubby fulfilled my wish of visiting Disneyland two years ago. I was so very happy, like a child given a cone of ice cream or a new toy. There is just something in these places that is magical, carefree, and wonderful. Like it helps you forget about your worries and cares and just let go and go with the flow.

Mommy Moments: Daddy Moments

Here's another late entry for Mommy Moments. Things have been pretty hectic the last couple of days that's why this entry is two days late. Today is a very special day because most of the world is celebrating Father's Day. To all the FATHERS in the world, especially to my Hanhan, my Papa and Tatay, THANK YOU. For all your dreams and for making them into a reality.  You are great dads in your own special and unique way and we couldn't be any happier.

My mind and heart just can't seem to let Daddy Moments go this week so here I am, albeit late.

I just enjoy watching my little Samantha and my Hanhan having fun together. It warms me to know that they have a special kind of fondness for each other. And I love the fact that hubby is always there when I need him to be there. I love it that our family is his priority. I love it that he wishes to provide the best for his family. I love it that even if we have problems and difficulties, we face them together. I love it that he is my husband and the father of my child.

Social Networking

I think that God blessed the day the Internet was discovered and made known to man. Why? Because it has made our world feel more connected with all the comings and goings. It has afforded man the capability to inform and be informed in just one click. It has even brought long lost friends and family members back together again through the different social networking sites that have mushroomed. You just post your profile online, and you are able to search for your friends or they will find you themselves. It's like business card printing working electronically and automatically.

I have heard many stories of being able to find their relatives whom they haven't had contact with for more than 20 years and then were able to catch up on their lives through social networking. I have heard and read testimonies from my own friends who have benefited from social networking because they received moral support and were inspired by just even a simple status message.

Although social networking can also have its disadvantages because of other people abusing the information that they can access from these social networking sites, there is no denying the fact that it is generally good.
